What is the Difference Between 1-Piece, 2-Piece, and 3-Piece Ball Valves?
The main difference between a one-piece, two-piece, and three-piece valve is the design of the body. A one-piece valve has a single body portion that can not be disassembled, while a two-piece has two body portions threaded or bolted together and a three-piece can be separated into its internal components for cleaning and servicing.
Electric actuated explosion proof 3-piece full port flanged SS ball valve offers great flow rates with minimal pressure drop. Body is solution annealed or investment cast for strength, with reinforced PTFE seats and seals for long life. The handles are double lock nuts which allow them to be safely removed with the valve still under line pressure. Stem seals are also PTFE to reduce friction and operation torque, which helps extend the number of cycles between maintenance adjustments.
A three-piece ball valve is better suited for media with particulates, which tend to stick in solenoid valves and cause clogs.
